I'm a Moderate

I'm not afraid to say it. I lean towards liberal on some issues, conservative on others, and for the rest I'm neutral.

What's really been making me angry, though, is that lately, all these republican politicians are talking about is hatred toward minorities.
I don't like Obama much as a president, but if these are the other choices, I'll take him any day.

The first instance that I'd like to vent about (yes, I'm venting, go figure), is how they speak at that stupid podium about contraceptives, as if women can't hear.
They talk like we're some kind of toy, an item that they can choose the fate of. Like we're not going to say anything.
We're not items, and we can't be owned. Not in the U.S.
It doesn't work that way.

Instead of getting into that entire political mess about how some women have to miss work due to severe abdominal pains, I'll move on to my second issue, which is just as important to me:

Gay rights.

Now, I realize that marriage is a pretty huge step. Why don't we work on stepping stones and work for something smaller, and move it up?
Let's try a bill/law/AMENDMENT saying that we can't discriminate against homosexuals, bisexuals, pansexuals, or trans.
I know, it doesn't seem smaller than a marriage law, but I think it is. It's more reasonable.
I mean, if you were against this bill being passed, you'd look like a pretty hateful bigot, huh?

WAIT! That's what most of these guys are, right?

Look at them. They spout on all day long about how, "women who use contraceptives are whores, abortion is wrong even if it could kill the parent, if you try to educate your child about tolerance you're wrong," or "god hates fags, blah blah blah...."

Okay, they don't exactly say that if you try to educate your child about tolerance you're wrong. But you know they think it.
I could go on for days about how the above statements are irrational.

The point is, these men spout on about hateful things, they say discriminatory, slanderous statements. Yes, you're going to be called a bigot for that.
When you call them a bigot, they're going to turn around and ask you why you're discriminating against them,  tell you you're the bigot, and try to say you're persecuting their religion.
I'm sure you've seen this method.

All I want is to live in peace with my fellow citizens. I am tolerant of you until you are intolerant of my beliefs. You have to remember that, although a majority, Christianity is not the only religion. There are dozens, hundreds of other religions in the U.S. and they are not all represented.
So, "god hates fags" isn't exactly a legitimate statement. I'm not a Christian. I'm sorry your god hates me? I think?

Disclaimer: This only blankets the religious extremists. I have plenty of wonderful Christian friends and family that love me for who I am. My beliefs have no effect on how they feel about me as a person. They even support me in some cases, because I'm usually right.

I want freedom!

I just thought I'd share this. Yes, I made it. Yes, I wrote it. I don't know how many similar quotes there are out there, but this one is mine.

I will probably be making a post later, but for now, this is it.

I must agree with everything you have to say here, and more. Not only did everyone think she was guilty just because the media said so, but also because they were just following the pack.

I'm going to add-on to that saying: If you're going to complain about how the court system works, do you think you could do better? They did their jobs, like the OP said.
If you look at any case that doesn't have enough evidence to put the accused away, that person probably went free. (Unless, of course, you're looking at an early 1900's case where a black man was the accused).

But I'm going to go off on a rant about something else. While that case was going on, and making millions of American mommies go nuts, we all probably saw that cute little group on Facebook about "praying for Caylee Anthony," or whatever.
I'm going to be Debbie-Downer here and say: Why does she get prayers? I don't see any other little girls that get prayers through a social-networking site where everyone comes together and talks about how horrible their mommy is.
I think every little girl and boy in the world might need prayers (no matter what religion you practice) every once in awhile. Starving children in Africa, little girls being killed or sold in China because families can't have more than one kid. There are girls in other third-world countries who have arranged marriages at ages 12 and 13, to 50 year-olds, are forced to be sex-slaves and have that man's babies, who can't make a name for themselves because it's illegal.
Why don't they get groups?

Why is Caylee Anthony such a special case? Whether you want to believe it or not, it happens every day.

So honor Caylee Anthony. Pray for her, send her positive energy, or hope that she reincarnates into a better home. Whatever it is you do. It only makes yourself feel better, really.
But also honor the rest of the kids who are/were worse off.
